a brief review of the modern sprout "prickly pear cactus" grow kit
When I went to Target in February, I saw these adorable grow kits. The tin is cute, the design on the tin is cute, and it promises to grow a plant. Plants and I do not get along. I have killed cacti. My longest surviving plant is a violet I bought a year ago. It was at Lowe's, and it was discounted. Needless to say, I should not be buying overpriced grow kits. I was at Target again yesterday, saw this again, and realized I'd still been thinking about it. I stared at it. I contemplated it. Do I actually want this. Am I buying something that I will kill, again. Eh. It's small, and it's just a seed and soil, so it's probably cheap...
When I reached the checkout line, I discovered that it was on sale for $7. It is typically $10. eep. That was 1/3 of my bill. Welp. Let's see if I wasted my money. At least it came with instructions.
I added about 7tbsp of water. I think that breaking up the grow discs one at a time would've been easier than doing them all at once. While I was adding water, they made a strange fizzing sound. I am surprised by how much they expanded---not gonna lie, my expectations are low. These plants are supposed to sprout in the next 14-30 days. So...we'll see how that goes!
