caught up on lessons and reviews on wanikani---hooray! i'm down to 84 lessons on kaniwani; this evening, i'd like to make another push to get it down to ~40 lessons. i will also open up bunpro again tonight.

tomorrow---finish wk2 of ccs. if you can work on wk3, even better.

wanikani went meh...i think that my retention is getting lower. i'm going to give myself a week before i go ahead and upgrade so i can access level four. i was trying to cram in every new lesson last week---what a surprise, this did not work out the way i wanted. i'm not sure if i'll do my new lessons tonight.

did a bit of kaniwani and have maintained a 60% accuracy rate. OOF. i want to get down to <100 reviews left tonight.

i need to stop biting off more than i can chew....

grammar is definitely challenging me. these bullet points are me trying to write sentences with what i've learned so far. please cringe with me.

got through four pages of ccs...i'm spending so much time looking at translations that i'm wondering if i'm even going to learn anything from reading this. i am definitely not prepared to try to read. i am struggling and wondering if this is worth it. i'll work on the next four pages between monday and tuesday. also---new bad idea---i want to try listening to the japanese death note musical without subtitles. maybe pace it out for a few minutes a day, since the goal is to recognize what i'm hearing. i'm spending waaaaaay too much time on reading.

puzzling my way through the opening of cardcaptor sakura was rough, but also a little bit fun. my goal is to 'follow' along with the old posts from the absolute beginner book club thread---i'm using this to decide how much to 'read' each week. i am struggling to convince myself to study grammar, and the best solution to my problem seemed to be to brute force it by trying to read japanese. my process for this section of the book was to copy out the speech bubbles on paper, annotate them---what do the kanji mean, and what's going on with the grammar---, and then use these annotations to puzzle out the meaning. i did obsessively reread ccs in elementary school, so i have a very distant awareness of the plot, which is probably doing some of the heavy lifting here. oh well. i love biting off more than i can chew.

wanikani reviews for today went well. i am finally remembering that 八日 is ようか; i kept writing it as　よおか and facepalming when i got it wrong. i've also gotten it through my head that 中 is ちゅう。。。i kept mixing it up with 土 for some reason. i think i'll level up in the next day or two---hooray, new material!

i finally downloaded bunpro. in an ideal world, i will cram all of the jlpt n5 grammar points before the free trial expires. i was very pleased to immediately connect some of the grammar points to what i'd been reading in ccs earlier.
